Gun Control

Gun Control - A theory espoused by some monumentally stupid people, who claim to believe, against all logic and common sense, that a violent predator who ignores the laws prohibiting them from robbing, raping, kidnapping, torturing and killing their fellow human beings will obey a law telling them that they cannot own a gun.

I couldn't say it better myself.

More Wasted Money

Here we are watching essential services being cut throughout the UK & some bright spark comes up with THIS idea.

"A "victims' commissioner" earning the equivalent of £400 a day has been appointed by Northamptonshire's police and crime commissioner (PCC).
In what is thought to be the first role of its kind, Angela Sarkis will lead an inquiry into victims' experience of the criminal justice system
She will then suggest to the PCC, Adam Simmonds, any improvements that might be made.
Ms Sarkis, in her 50s, has worked with the YMCA and the Church Urban Fund."

Some might say it's "only" £25,000 but that's one less full time care worker, or one less PCSO & all for 20 days "work."
Like the new Police commissioners, the money being wasted is already apparent, with £700 claims for chauffeur driven limo's & overblown "consultancy fees."
If the appointees need consultants, then they weren't up to the job in the first place & victims of crime ought to be supported by the courts, rather than some overpaid blabbermouth.

Defensive Firearm Use -WORKS

"SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - A citizen with a gun stopped a knife wielding man as he began stabbing people Thursday evening at the downtown Salt Lake City Smith's store.

Police say the suspect purchased a knife inside the store and then turned it into a weapon. Smith's employee Dorothy Espinoza says, "He pulled it out and stood outside the Smiths in the foyer. And just started stabbing people and yelling you killed my people. You killed my people."

Espinoza says, the knife wielding man seriously injured two people. "There is blood all over. One got stabbed in the stomach and got stabbed in the head and held his hands and got stabbed all over the arms."

Then, before the suspect could find another victim - a citizen with a gun stopped the madness. "A guy pulled gun on him and told him to drop his weapon or he would shoot him. So, he dropped his weapon and the people from Smith's grabbed him."
By the time officers arrived the suspect had been subdued by employees and shoppers. Police had high praise for gun carrying man who ended the hysteria. Lt. Brian Purvis said, "This was a volatile situation that could have gotten worse. We can only assume from what we saw it could have gotten worse. He was definitely in the right place at the right time.""

Tell me how disarming law abiding citizens in the manner applied by Bloomberg the Turd, MAIG & his fellow proponents of overbearing social control would have saved lives in this case.

Abu Qatada; another Fail

I'm sick & tired of "Human Rights" being used to protect this supporter & enabler of terrorism from justice.
The Court of Appeal have once more placed his welfare above that of others & at a continuing cost of thousands of pounds a week to keep the parasite in the manner he enjoys.
We should give up on the judicial route to his removal, let him walk the streets & have him meet with an "accident."
He could fall in front of a Tube train or bus, get a machete buried in his head in a "botched" robbery, or, most fitting of all, be the sole victim of a prematurely detonated terrorist bomb.

Scottish Independence & the Poond

I see screwball Salmond thinks we will allow an independent Scotland to continue using the Pound Sterling as their currency.

"UK Chancellor George Osborne believes the SNP "are tying themselves in knots" over plans to retain the pound in the event of a yes to independence.
He insisted that a currency union could only work as part of a political and economic union.
Scotland's SNP government wishes to maintain sterling in the event of a yes vote in next September's referendum.
Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said keeping the pound was the "common sense position supported by the facts".
However, in a UK government article published on the HM Treasury website, Mr Osborne and his Treasury chief secretary, Danny Alexander, said the Nationalist plan "did not add up""

How about no way?

Why would we possibly agree to another nation having the ability to totally destroy the value of our currency?
Look at how the PIIGS have wrecked the Euro

Get your own "Poond Stirling" you daft porage wog.

Crime & Guns

When one takes into consideration the draconian firearms laws in the UK, it should be impossible for them to be used in crime - especially handguns.
Yet we appear to be having a rash of shootings & murders of late:

One dead in Southampton.

One dead in Leeds.

One dead in London.

Another dead in London.

One dead in Luton.

Two shot, one dead in London.

One shot in Sheffield.

Two shot in Gloucester.

One shot in Doncaster.

That's just those found for April on the BBC website & doesn't include Northern Ireland.

I'm waiting for Gill Marshall-Andrews & the other three barking moonbat members of the UK Gun Control Network to start squealing like the little piggies they are for more restrictions on legal firearms.

Electric Cars: An Ongoing Scam

Interesting article on the BBC about electric cars:

"One recent study by scientists in EV-friendly Norway has found that in some circumstances electric cars can have a greater impact on global warming than conventional cars.
One of the authors of the report, at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Guillaume Majeau-Bettez, admits that he is shocked and disappointed that their findings are not more positive for EVs.
"The electric car has great potential for improvement, but ultimately what will make it a success or failure from an environmental standpoint is how much we can clean up our electricity grid - both for the electricity you use when you drive your car, and for the electricity used for producing the car."....

....The study is a life cycle analysis of the global warming impact of the production and operation of EVs, driven for 150,000km (93,750 miles), compared with the production and operation of conventional cars. The scientists include so-called "well to wheel" data, taking into account the energy needed to refine and transport oil into petrol or diesel.
One of the findings is that the energy intensive manufacturing of EVs mean that some cars make almost double the impact on global warming as conventional cars. This is mostly because of the raw materials and energy needed to build the lithium-ion batteries."

I've been saying for years that these vehicles don't warrant the accolades given, especially when they are given a 150,000km life, a figure likely to be double the real one due to their limited range & intended purchasers.
These are TOWN cars in the main, so will be used for school runs & short commutes.
The Li Ion batteries lose capacity relatively rapidly & after five years will be down to roughly half their original stated capacity. That of course is also dependent on the owner complying fully with the charging regime laid down.
If a TRUE "whole life" (from raw material to final recycling) energy cost comparison were to be done between a small, current production diesel car & a similar sized electric one, my money would be on the diesel for being less polluting & more energy efficient, taking into account the UK's current generating mix.

Meanwhile I'll stick with my 25mpg pick-up truck because those ickle biddy cars aren't much use off road & shooting out the back of them might prove problematic....

Goodbye Maggie

I'm sorry to hear of Baroness Thatcher's passing today but like that of my father a week back, I consider it a blessing.
Both died from the same thing; a stroke & both had been suffering from Alzheimer's, a terrible disease.

The vile filth from the political left are out in force, spewing vitriol & lies about her policies & their legacy. These retards have been repeating their lies for decades, so here's some truths that are the exact opposite of their lies.

Manufacturing in the UK ROSE under Thatcher, as did its profitability.
The Union tail ceased to wag the government dog.
Days lost to strike action fell by 75%.
The mines were closed down because productivity was so low, each ton of coal cost more to extract than it could be sold for.
Unionised shipbuilding was also unprofitable, with Japanese & Korean shipyards building more modern vessels for far less money.
British Leyland was a communist union riddled joke, producing rubbish cars at a high price.
Thatcher replaced this with Nissan & Honda; major UK manufacturers to this day.
She opposed sanctions against SA because we were at the height of the Cold War & I for one wouldn't have wanted the Soviet fleet to have a base there. Once that threat was removed, she worked tirelessly for a democratic & peaceful end to apartheid.
She brought about a peaceful transition from Rhodesia to Zimbabwe (though IMO this was a huge failure for the people there, who suffer under Mugabe to this day).
No other PM would have had the balls to take back the Falklands.
The Belgrano was an enemy warship & one quite capable of decimating the transports in the UK task-force & thus was a threat that needed neutralising - remember that the submarine tracking her had already lost contact one, with possibly disastrous consequences.
She was grateful to General Pinochet for the aid given during the FI War & distanced herself from him in the end, though she should have done so sooner.
She saw Gorbachev's potential & did what she could to build contacts & help him with his changes, ultimately leading to the freeing of Eastern Europe & the end of the Cold War.
The council hose sell-off not only gave huge numbers of people a real stake in the nation but also provided funds used to build a great number of Housing Association homes.
BT went from a lacklustre phone company to a multinational technology leader.
A huge investment was made by the privatised water companies in cleaning up sewage.
The list of her achievements goes on.

So all you bone-idle, socialist parasites who weren't even born when she was elected can all just go & fuck yourselves.
The same goes for the rest of the whining socialists who read this.

Bone by name....

....bone by nature:

"This question is the basis of a unlikely demand being made by a group of people from south London.
South Norwood Tourist Board (SNTB), run by four friends, has pointed out that only one of Cumbria's lakes is actually a lake, and the rest are meres, tarns or waters.
In an email to the county's tourist board, Cumbria Tourism, it says it has a greater claim to the label "Lake District" since it has two lakes.
Ian Bone, from SNTB, is adamant they are completely serious about their demand Cumbria stop using the label "Lake District" so South Norwood - which is part of Croydon - can use it instead."

I guess things must be pretty slow in South Norwood - just like Mr Bone.

Goodbye Dad

My father passed away this afternoon. He had been suffering from Alzheimer's for the past three or four years & slowly getting worse.
Last Saturday, he collapsed with a massive bleed to the brain & had been in a coma ever since. Unfortunately, he was in a hospital 40 miles away but yesterday I drove up with my sister to see him & I'm thankful I did - would have felt terrible not being able to see him one last time.
It was obvious he didn't have long & today he's gone & peacefully at that.

Goodbye Dad, I'll see you on the other side.
